Ford Transit
Ford Transit Custom
Here is an exceptional example of an extremely low mileage, hand-crafted, professionally converted and very desirable Ford Transit Custom “stealth” camper-van.
The base vehicle is a December 2017 (67 plate) registered Ford Transit Custom H1 L2 twin side-door crew cab having just on ***34,000*** verified miles on the clock. MoT till Nov 22. There are NO dents or scratches and only the occasional stone chip with beautiful paintwork. It has nearly all the bells and whistles in extras (not Sat-Nav) including : A/C, 6 speed manual gearbox, Cruise control, Bluetooth Sync for phone connection to the single CD DAB/FM audio system, auto-lights with cornering lights, auto-wipers,heated front screen, front and rear parking sensors, electric foldable heated mirrors, electric windows, remote central locking with 2 original keys, security locks on rear doors with separate key operation, roof bars with removable, lockable cross bars……I’m sure there’s some I’ve missed!!
It comes with standard Ford alloy wheels which have some scuffs and marks but I decided not to have them refurbished due to the fact that you will probably, due to the uniqueness of the vehicle, replace with more trendy alloys. Tyres are all in good condition with about 6mm of tread to all tyres. I’ve added stainless steel side steps, mirror covers, door handle covers, grill bars , spotlight and fog-light shrouds,
I also had a top quality Tow Trust, concealed, detachable, single electrics, tow-bar fitted. Again I’m sure there’s bound to be something I’ve missed but you get the idea….it is impeccably appointed vehicle. The current MoT is until November (with no advisories) but a full 12 months will be put on at the point of sale, if required.
ONTO THE CONVERSION.
The first thing we did was to convert the double passenger seat into a single and fit a Captain’s seat adaptor to each to allow both front seat to be able to be turned to face into the rear compartment. The double seat was securely re-fixed, including full seatbelt operation, in the rear compartment for 3rd and 4th passengers/ general seating at the demountable table. Over the bed is a large leak-proof roof-light with fly-screen and blind incorporated.
There is a comprehensive itemised invoice by the conversion company ensuring only top quality equipment was used. It is fully insulated and there is a hard wearing , level floor fitted. There is a Fiamma F35 Pro awning and awning rail/gutter fitted.
Please note that there isn’t any water or gas appliances in this conversion. This was a deliberate design based on the theory that we wanted to have a simple, efficient way of camping without the need for space consuming reservoirs of gas and water….and the theory that there is less to go wrong later. We have a system of all electric appliances that can be powered by the 25m lead, included, connected to a power point, whilst on a campsite. They can all be powered, when not on campsite by a fully certified electric system which allows the use of 12v or 240v appliances using the 2.5kw inverter powered by the two 110amp leisure batteries all mounted in a separate compartment under the fixed double bed, in the rear of the van.
The 31w 240/12v Vitrifrigo fridge, with small freezer section is powered by 12v. I recently returned from Spain and left the fridge operating on 12v for around 48 hours on the ferry and on return found the frozen meat in the freezer section still frozen and no significant drop in the voltage reading of the batteries. I was a little gob-smacked but very pleased!
Due to ill-health, the price includes all equipment including new Porta-Potti with faux leather cover, single cooking hob, low wattage kettle, cutlery, crockery (all for 4 people) collapsible washing bowl, collapsible bucket, folding crockery drying rack……too much to itemise
